The Westin Palo Alto Hotel, a five star, boutique hotel in downtown Palo Alto, California, is inspired by French country-side gardens and Parisian courts. Each of the hotel’s 184 rooms overlooks one of five courtyards which elaborate on the concept theme. The ”Sundial Court” beckons with its sun patterned paving, antique sundial, golden hued bench tiles and plants that bloom in shades of yellow. The “Court of the Sun and Moon” has a celestial theme. Built on structure, as guest parking for the hotel is below ground, the courtyards feature raised planting areas and a variety of whimsical sculptural elements. Each courtyard theme is featured by artwork in the complimentary hotel stationary. Lush plantings, textured materials, rich colors and unique water features contribute to the project’s Mediterranean ambiance and its unique “get away from it all” spirit.
