The Dunes Center is a 30 acre power center that anchors the Dunes at Monterey Bay community. It is located in the City of Marina at historic Fort Ord. The Dunes Center applies an urban, pedestrian, eco- friendly approach to a Regional Center that includes big box tenants.  Sensitive to the beachfront context and its military base history, a beach dune aesthetic was incorporated into all aspects of the project – from a boardwalk trail system that connects the retail to the community, to a plant palette that focuses on coastal natives – including the relocation of numerous Monterey Cypress’; from building colors that complement the nearby dune vegetation, to outdoor plazas modeled on bold camouflage patterns.
