Plant of the Moment – Lomondra longifolia ‘Breeze’
Do you need a gorgeous filler plant that performs well in a wide range of conditions? Get to know Lomandra longifolia ‘Breeze’. This perennial grass known as Dwarf Mat Rush is a trustworthy plant that performs wondrously in most soil conditions. It has become one of our studio’s favorite plants, which is artfully incorporated into many of APDW’s recent projects. Here is why: Lomandra is fast growing, quickly fills up the landscape with voluminous lush green foliage but at the same time doesn’t require much maintenance. Trimming is necessary once every 3 to 5 years. Moreover, this plant requires low water use and prospers well in full sun to partly shaded areas. We acknowledge that even the seemingly small decision of plant selection has incremental changes in saving the world.
We used Lomandra as our meadow foundation plant at the LEED Platinum VF Outdoor Campus. As the years progress, the landscape has evolved to its current splendor!
